TUTTLE--can anyone give an idear of how many teams might be coming to this Saturday? We have a group of Texas kids who want to come up whoop some Okies. Will any Okies be at Tuttle? Also, on the question about red/blue singlet, American Wrestler is having a table at Tuttle where they will sell equipment, including singlets; I saw this on their facebook page.

@My3Sons I beleive you about his weight, us with 37# kids thought we would see him sometime this year, TN, JOC, Regionals, State. So i figured if you were pulling it would be to 37#. Good luck today at Reno.

Good tourney...Abney was in the finals, but not sure how he turned out. Canon pinned his kid in the finals....looked tough as heck. Bonahm had a good match against Frost that should have been the finals match at 43 D1, Frost left early because his ride is a guy that flew them up there, or he would have ended up 2nd. Bonahm tech falled his kid in the finals. Union1995, yeah we were debating on pulling when we were werighing 37.8 just to chase the trinity, then we decided not to, for obvious reasons. I am proud of the boy, it has been a long year....

@My3Sons - Last year my boy was 3 and 28#, this year 4 and 32#. I think we may have been in 1 brakect with your son but didnt wrestle him last year. They were telling me then that your son was 7 last year. So this year when he was still in DIV I i was surprised at first; He could not have been 7 until this year though. I cant complain either way cause my son is bottom of DIV 1 next year and will be at 37# in his 3rd year. I bet they do me the same way in 2 years. Say im cutting him down to 40 or scared to wrestle 43.

union, we were bottom of D1 last year, and top this year. we started at 4 in novice so yeah people think he is old...lol. He weighed 34 or 35 last year, this year 37.8...just a little guy. I am hoping he will be 46 next year....but more than likely he will be 43...but who knows...wrestling is a tough enough sport, and you burn kids out when they have to pull at a young age. I wont lie, we it is a major tourney and he wants to pull .5 I am ok with that...but I see kids that are young and growing and they pull 6-8 lbs and I hate that. NONE OF MY BUSINESS, but I hate it for the kid. Yeah and you know what...dont listen to all the BS from people, I dont. I am prolly into wrestling too much to be honest with you, but I cant help it..lol. I might be yelling and jumping up and down during close matches, but I aways tell the boys, I am not mad, I am just loud. lol. Canon now gets a nice break, and I get to relax and do baseball with the other 2..awwww a relaxing sport for sure. Ive decided for sure not to let canon freestyle, we will do some private lessons once a week starting in the summer. We are very fortunate to have the coaches we have at Collinsville. Mike Keim took the time out of his busy schedule to work Canon out for Reno, I could never thank him enough.

Well Bam West and Dylan Palmer fought at the Oklahoma State Brazilian Championships today and because of there high level of wrestling they made both of them fight up a division, Bam up to 10,11 and 12 year olds from 8,9 and 10, and Dylan up from 4,5 and 6 to 7,8 and 9 year olds, Dylan won all his matches by way of arm bar and got caught in an arm bar in the championships while up 6 to 0 and took the silver and Bam West took the Gold..congrats.....

How many kids attended? We were planning on making it to the OGA event in June, but were a little concenred about the amount of entrants. We attended a NAGA event last year (our first) and were a bit disappointed to find 3 and 4 man brackets, especially after a 5 hour drive. I am glad to see the sport starting to grow closer to home. Hopefully OGA will have a good turn out.

@jjacksonhd.....this last event was a smaller series and had 3 to 8 man brackets but our OGA event is much larger and we expect over 1000 competitors. NAGA had one at the cox center here in OKC in February and they had 1,400 competitors. We expect the same as we are marketing to 5 states around us.......3000 gyms.

Haven't been on since State.... Just thought I'd share (since I've had requests for updates) that Clay had his surgery on Feb. 6 (torn meniscus in Finals at TN) and they repaired it instead of removing it (he wasn't happy, but better in long run) and he was in prison (locked brace and crutches w/ zero weight bearing) for 6 weeks. Out of the brace on March 22 and started rehab that day (his leg pics should be the poster child for weight training or let you know what happens when you completely fall off training) He was rehabbing 3 days a week and working out to get back into shape. Therapist told us to bump up his appt. w/ the Dr for release because he was ready... He was released on the 16th of this month and played baseball on the 17th! lol We left him in rehab to continue to get his leg stronger... Thanks for all your concern and prayers! See you all next season! =)

I have Division I working for State Tournament bracket. I'll get Div 2,3,4, and 5 done soon. You run the program and it finds all four Regional results, then it reads the Seeding chart and applies the seeds to eash weight for the A,B,C, D columns. The 40lb seeding chart is something I made up because the only chart was mission Div I 40lb but the rest is straight from this years OKWA State. After it has the results and the Seeding, the program puts the places in the proper A,B,C,D columns THEN it creates the State Bracket spreadsheet and moves the placer into the proper cells. See what you think:
State Bracket Program
You get a web page with the results for each weight, click on the Weight and it should open a spreadsheet and populate it with the placers. AGAIN, This is DIVISION I only for the moment.

Jerry - The brackets are great, I think you have a formula problem for Q60 as it populates wrong. It populates from J68 rather than F68. Otherwise it works great! Thanks

Jerry Scott
dgober, THANKS!! but remember on 40lb those are not the final seeding but on the rest it should work. I wrote all the identify results section and then brought out the placers and got it all ready so \$FirstRegionA = 'xxxxxx" (some name) couod be inserted where the seeding chart said it should go (column A,B,C,D) then I found a person in Mexico that had done this with Excel and he took my variables and inserted them into the OKWA State Bracket. He's not that knowledgeable of youth wrestling in Oklahoma so there very well could be a bad cell number in there! NOW, the biggest problem for next year is, Godaddy does not have the module needed to make the spreadsheet on their Linux servers. The fellow helping me had a Linux server of his own and got it working on it and that is the version you used but! next year I'll either HAVE to 1. find a different web host that will install that module 2. Re-write the module in Windows and use a Windows site I have to host that link OR re-write the whole page to just produce an html page with the bracket (but wouldn't be a spreadsheet).
I HAVE written that particular type of thing on a Windows server about 8 years ago (for the FAA) but I have used Linux servers since 1997 and I have hundreds and hundreds of programs written in PERL that will only work on Linux servers and it would be ridiculous to re-write them all into ASP which is what it would be in Windows (although, that's what I use in my day job so it's not a new language) ugh

Jerry, I went ahead and used the cell boarders and finsihed them out. They look good printed. I just picked one at random, noticed same name twice on the bracket. The rotating region string would trip me up however! question...Does the advertising that you have support the site? Or do you pay for the hosting out of your pocket? Or does OKWA help out... The reason I am asking is I would gladly help out if you had a paypal link or other way of taking donations. The site is a great resource and my boy and I used it alot this year. If you decide to go with another host and it adds overhead to your costs, surely the people who use this thing would help out! This site has a lot of great parents that enjoy the sport and enjoy the bantering....LMK

First, I know it's been said by multiple people about how I make so much out of the web site, but I pay for everything out of my pocket. COWA has been very supportive and they give my several hundred dollars to keep the USJOC site running. OKWA gave me a nice sum for the initial programming several years ago and "supposedly" I'm supposed to ge $500 for keeping their stuff running but we'll see if that happens in the future. I do not get anything for the banners at the top of the page, I put them up for anyone that can benefit. The "actual" cost of the web site plus the domain name costs just under $100/yr so I can handle that. My day job (paying) is with the FAA and I've been full time with them for over 10 yrs. We'll see how long I stay with them until I retire.
The State Chart program will happen one way or the other, this site is paid up for another 3 yrs so I'd rather not just up and leave, but you would not know it happened if I changed web hosts. It would be transparent to the public. Godaddy is huge because they are the cheapest on a lot of things but if I "had" to change I'd make it somehow but THANKS for offering

Sam, the first link isn't working now (server in Mexico is DOWN) BUT, 1. Try http://okseries.com/cgi/BuildStateBracketDivIV.cgi and see if it doesn't work RIGHT UP TO THE SPREADSHEET. I have I, II, III, & IV all working. Just substitute that in the link and it will bring up all but Div V.
NOW, I sent out a FYI to the board about moving okseries.com to a Virtual Private Server rather than a shared server. IF I do that I will be able to have the WriteExcel module installed on that and we can do any/all sorts of spreadsheet programs (like make a tournament spreashett like Dustin at Ponca has).
