How We Raise Beef

Animal Care
Our cattle are Beef Masters cows bred to Angus Bulls. When a calf is born, they are nourished by their mamma for 5 to 7 months. When the calf is taken from its mother, or weaned, they are moved to wheat pasture (from October to April) or Bermuda grass until they are about 12 months old and weight about 850 to 900 pounds.
Once they reach that weight, they are then moved to a diet of grazing on Bermuda grass, fed alfalfa hay and ground corn for a minimum of 60 days. We feed them alfalfa and corn to make the meat tender, add that touch of marbling and enhance the taste of the finished beef.
If a calf becomes sick, they are treated and when well, they are taken to an auction where they will be sold to a feed lot. We only sell the best of the best.
During cold weather in the winter, the cattle need special care. The water tanks are frozen as well as the wheat pasture and Bermuda pasture, it is a rough time for them. Our beef have sheds to shelter them from the cold north wind and are fed Alfalfa hay and Bermuda grass hay ALONG with 12% protein cubes during the inclement winter.
The protein cubes are like candy for them as chocolate is for us, it gives them a big boost of energy to keep them warm. Every morning the ice is broken from the water tanks, so the cattle can stay hydrated and are fed hay and cubes to give them energy to stay warm. We care about the well-being and health of our beef because we believe it makes for a better product and it is the right thing to do as stewards of the land and cattle we raise.
